EVERY GAME COUNTS

Here's the scenario: Bottom of the 9th. Adrian Gonzalez is at the plate with
2 out and the bases loaded. A-Gon leads the AL with a .341 average. He's got 23 homers and 103 RBIs. Mariano Rivera is on the mound. Mo is the only #42 left in baseball. He is going to the Hall of Fame. He only throws one pitch -
a cutter. Classic Red Sox - Yankees' showdown. The game is on the line.
Rivera caught Gonzalez looking at strike three. Game over. Yankees win 4-2.

It's lucky for the Tigers that A's hurler Gio Gonzalez was on his game Thursday.
Gonzalez pitched 7 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 walks and added 7 Ks in a 7-0 shutout of the Cleveland Indians.

On a hot, humid day, when the Tigers were giving all the kids a Magglio Ordoñez Mini-Bat, and Mags rose to the occasion and went 3-for-4 with a stolen base, 2 doubles, a homer and 3 RBIs - Detroit, still, couldn't pull-out a win!

With Detroit in 1st place and the playoffs rapidly approaching, The Copa has been packed. But there were empty seats on Thursday, mainly because it was a makeup for the May 15th rainout. Fans held onto their original tickets - many couldn't make it because it was a Thursday day game.
It was toasty. 88 degrees at 3:30 PM...

Señor Ordoñez was on FIRE!

The Royals beat the Tigers 11-8.
Phil Coke was awful. He threw 12 pitches. Wanna see his line? Zero innings pitched, 2 hits, 3 runs and 1 walk!! Brutal!!! Just brutal!!!!

Tonight, the Tigers begin a big, 3-game series against the White Sox.
On Monday, they travel to Cleveland for 3 against the Tribe.
Detroit has a 5 1/2 game lead over Chicago and Cleveland in the AL Central.
Tonight: John Danks vs Justin Verlander at 7:05 PM.
Saturday FOX game of the week: Gavin Floyd vs Brad Penny at 4:10 PM.
Sunday ESPN Sunday Night Baseball: Mark Buehrle vs Max Scherzer at
8:05 PM
